We're Movin On!
Well, we won again! I am so proud of our little school! We are just making things happen around here! Go Burg!
I also wanted to mention that the unthinkable has happened......My Emily got a job! Can you believe it? She will be 17 on the 26th, like that's not hard enough to believe, she went and got herself a job! She is working at the local grocery store. Our little village has been without a store for a while now, so having it back is a big deal in a little town like ours. I stopped by yesterday, which was opening day, to see 2 things: 1.Yes we actually have a grocery store and 2.Yes Emily actually had a real job! She was great! I am so proud of her! Why all the fuss? And why did I call this the unthinkable? Because my Emily is the kind of girl that just automatically thought she would grow up and marry a prince and the she would be waited on hand and foot! Let me give you an example....when I first tried to teach her how to wash dishes, she wouldn't stick her hands in the water. Why? Beacause she said "Those dishes are dirty and I will get that stuff on my hands!" This is the girl that had to run around the track one time to pass gym class and the school nurse called me to pick her up because she threw up! Yea. This is the girl that wouldn't play sports. "I can't play soccer, it makes you sweaty!" Now, you would think to yourself...I bet she is a chubby little thing, oh no she's a size 6. Why is this such a big deal you say? Because, all this time my husband and I kept saying to each other, "She better find herself a rich husband, because she's never gonna cut it in the working world!" But, do you wanna know what I saw yesterday? I saw her working circles around alot of the other girls. The other girls were pecking the cash register with one finger and flipping their little blinking light on to have someone fix their mistakes and reset their registers. And who do you think that person was? Yep, it was Emily! She went from cash register to cash register fixing and resetting. All that time on the computer and all of those thousands of text messages later, yes Emily had become some sort of technological wizard! Yes,I am really proud of my Emily! Great job girl! Now, if only I could get her to put her clothes in the hamper instead of on the floor beside the hamper. Oh well, all in due time.

Awww, what a cute post!
Congrats to you both. Just think, shes going to love the freedom, being independant AND a pay check!
GOOD for her!
Beth~
That is soooo funny! The dish washing episode is a classic!
I have a daughter similar to yours, no sports, actually fought us when we insisted she get a job, but loved her own money, freedom, and all that goes with it.
Now, if she would only get a job while she is in college!! Quit playing those video games in her free time!!
We have a dish washer and my girls can't even seem to put the dishes in there. They put them in the sink, BESIDE the dish washer!! I would have loved to had an automatic dish washer when I was growing up, not just my hands!
Thanks for the great laugh this morning.
And Congratulations!

Yeah for Emily and the team. I had my first job when I was 13 at the A & W restaurant, I babysat before that, that first paycheck is awesome. I bet you are proud of her.

Congratulations on your win! I keep looking for news down here on it, cause they do the local high schools sports, but haven't caught anything yet.
Your post cracked me up about Emily. One of our girls was like that too. Now she works in the emergency room at a hospital, signing patients in. Wonders never cease. lol!

Well how about that? I'm sure this is a very proud Mommy moment! Good for her!
Congrats on your football win! And good for Emily for working so hard! To be honest, reading that made me think of my hubby a little bit - he works in a grocery store in an authoritative kind of role (soon-to-be 3rd manager in line) working hard helping people all day long, but I can't get him to pick up his dirty socks either! haha! So I'm there with you...in my own little way:) <3Lauren
YAY!!! That is fantastic about Emily! Congrats!!!
And congrats to your football team too! I know that is always so exciting! :)
Congrats to your Emily :) I can see why you are so proud of her getting a job :)
Honestly, my Mom probably never imagined that I would be like I am either. I remember her telling me MANY times that I would never be able to handle being a mother and wife because I did not like to do the simplest things. She really thought I would crack! LOL I remember a day when Shane was about 8 months old....Mom came over and I was running around getting supper ready while she was visiting. I turned around and caught her crying. She wouldn't tell me what was wrong, made up a silly excuse about being tired but looking at her, I could tell. I knew that she finally realized that I could do it and would do a great job :)
Have a great day!
